Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 envelope Rapid Rise Instant Yeast
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed dried oregano optional
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup warm water

Instructions

  1. Start by mixing the flour and Instant yeast in a large bowl. Make sure when you’re at the store getting the yeast packets that they say INSTANT. This is important if you want a quick rising dough.
  2. Add the salt and oregano, mix all the dry ingredients well.
  3. Add the warm water and olive oil. Gently start to mix all the ingredients together by hand.
  4. Once it starts to come together and is beginning to form a ball of dough, pour it all out onto a clean dry surface and knead the dough for 5 minutes. By the end of 5 minutes you will have a pretty and soft ball of dough ready to start rising.
  5. Place the dough inside a clean large bowl. Drizzle a few drops of olive oil on top of the dough and rub the oil all around the dough to give it a thin coat. Cover the bowl and set it aside. I like to set mine near the window where the most warmth and light come in to help it rise faster. Once the pizza has at least doubled in size, it is ready to use. An hour should be good enough.
  6. Once it’s ready, you have to release all the gasses that are trapped inside the dough, so give it a soft punch and let it sit for a minute. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
  7. In the meantime, prepare a baking sheet with a light sprinkle of cornmeal or parchment paper to lay the pizza dough on before baking. Lay it flat and begin gently stretching the dough by hand until it is between 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch thick (depends how thick you want your pizza dough).
  8. Poke holes all around with a fork to prevent the dough from bubbling too much while baking in the oven. Add your toppings. Bake for 15-20 minutes.
